London Baby

Well I've just got back and started relaxing after finishing a truely awesome gig in London, even with guitar issues (power cut-outs, bass amps de-earthed [apparently] and therefore buzzing for half a song) the thinking for tuesday machine still rocked people's balls off....even people "sans balls", the music made them grow and then rocked them right off! I have to say my drumming was particularly great, even with such a poor kit that they had ;)

We got there around 6:30pm for a nice leisurely sound-check where there was much gaffa taping of broken skins (very rock 'n roll!) and generally trying to get a decent sound from the PA. Top marks to the sound engineer who really knew his stuff - it always helps that the audience can at least hear the band so it's even better when they can hear everything at the right level! First off Wire Jesus played a really good set with some cracking vocal harmonies (really good work there guys) I particularly enjoyed watching the lead lady singer lean over with her top undone...nipples always aid a performance. Actually I think my favourite part of their set was the lady playing the accordian (or maybe it's a harmonium? It wasn't one of the hand held ones so I think that's a harmonium....whatevs...) I really think their style of music fitted it really well.

Anyway, onto the most important part, we got up on stage to quite a packed audience which always help power up that rock energy centre that everyone has (a little like buffy and her slayer power but for rock....sorry have just watched about 4 in a row.....I'm such a geek...). I think our set list has settled quite nicely into a good flow (even with Tom's guitar losing power right at the beginning of the song - the show must go on!). By the end of Girl in the Red Dress 2 (possibly my favouritest!) we were all feeling pretty exhilirated and so to finish off with a massively powerful song we did Isolation where, even though Will said he fumbled a part of his solo, I thought he sounded f*cking awesome! Thanks so much for everyone who came down and gave their support, we easily had the most number of supporters EVEN THOUGH the venue had changed less than a week before from Hammersmith to Ealing (not the easiest of jumps). Thanks to Erica, Hen, Mark and Kazla's family for helping out and taking pictures etc (Hen took some awesome ones using funky lighting and high ISO/slow shutter speed which should be up on here soon so keep an eye out for them!) Also a massive thanks to Frankie and Kazla's old AcTOR friends who came and gave their support. It really does make a gig worth it! I'm sure I've missed out some people but thanks to you too!

After our set it was time for Hard Fox (or Foxy Hard as the sound engineer caled them) who played a lively set with some real power behind them, nice solos, good range of songs to keep people interested! Thanks goes to them for headlining!

Phew, this blog has turned into a bit of an essay!

Anyway I've probably said enough for tonight....possibly a lifetime so I'll leave you with a pleasant thought, nuzzling into Tom's man-boobs.....mmmmm

The Hobbit and the Band

WOW!

A great night for music at the Hobbit.

Its 2:18am on what is now Saturday morning and I think the buzz won't wear down for a while.

We loved the opportunity to play the venue and were so happy to support Turning Green who had a fantastic sound, set and energy.

We all enjoyed playing (as we always do) but carried on dancing after we had finished to the funky eclectic sound of TG.

Thanks so much to everyone for coming down and especially to the Davis Brothers who interviewed us and snapped away a few more photos, we do appreciate the support.

Its fantastic to get such a warm and welcoming response from so many people after a gig that was just incredible to play.

Thanks again to every one and a very good night, or should that be Morning.

Filmed

Well,

Last night a nice chap by the name of Bruce came and filmed the band for a new project that is under development. As its not ours to plug yet I will say no more but when we can, we will let you know and hope we can show off our footage and interview from the evenings proceedings.

Studio day 2 and 3

So it got busy and we got tired and we missed the daily blog entry (and it was only 3 days!!)

So here we go....

Day 2.

Straight back in and the kit was still there from the night before. Tom got back into it and we finished off all the guitar parts that were left to do.
Isolation took the longest because frankly we were trying to be clever ;-) But we like the result.
Karen then took her step into the vocal booth. We did all the songs but she was always a little off and uncomfortable it was only then we realise she can't hear much in the head phones.......Oh well.

Day 3.

So we are back in and with more energy and knowing where we went wrong the vocals came together ver nicely. It was much more powerful and we did the harmonies in a separate booth but live to Karen and it felt more natural and with a few practices of each song they sounded really big and rich. However Tom and Will may have made their own lives harder because Spin never used to have backing vocals......It does now!
We now have to wait for the mix down of all the songs, but we are expecting good things as Preppy (engineer) really knew what we wanted to hear and captured us very well for the EP.
We can't wait to hear the final mix.........so till then!

Studio : Day 1

We have started (and finished) Day 1 of the 3 days in Valley Studios.
So Far we have been working very hard and achieved more than we thought we would.
Its hard to give a real feel for the songs as we have heard them in bits and pieces but so far its going well and we are on for a great session tomorrow.

All the drums and bass parts are down (although you never know what might change) and we have done 3 whole songs from both guitars.

Tuesday will start with Tom and his parts in Dig it Up and then we can finish Isolation (at nearly 8 minutes) Then its to all the vocals and harmonies.

We shall let you know more tomorrow!

The Joiners - What a gig!

This was our best gig to date and everyone we spoke to seemed to agree.
Before I start, a huge thanks to everyone for making the effort and for all the support at the gig.

This was a great venue, well run (they have been doing it a while), friendly and a great atmosphere.

All the bands were friendly and it was great to meet everyone.

TFT were really pleased with their performance and although we can always improve its nice to finish a gig happy!

The highlight of the gig had to be the "Arse Badges!" It got a laugh from the crowd and made the badges just that little bit more special!!!

Cheers to Echo Chamber for getting all badged up as well!

Thanks again to all and we hope to play there again soon! It was so much fun!

Studio is booked......

We are booked in and can't wait to go.
The first week in August we are set to make a trip to Valley Studios in Winchester and record our debut EP.
We are having trouble chosing which songs to play as we want to do as many as we can but also make sure we do a great job on a few songs not a bad job on loads.
So soon enough you will be able to download, stream or however you get to music, listen to TFT where ever you go.......You never know you might want to!
