Studio pernikittyness!

Well Tom and I were in the studio last night to finish his recording of Falling (This is not usually the order you record things as the standard is to lay down bass after drums and not guitar however as Tom will be away for an extended honeymoon - needs must....)!

This is only going to be a quick blog today I'm afraid as I am currently at work and my usual essay-blogs take time to publish!

Anyway the recording is going really well, Rob has been very patient with us (I say us, in fact I mean Tom as he is quite the perfectionist - not a bad trait, especially as recording should sound as perfect as possible - bearing in mind however that usually any mistakes we make during a gig/practice are covered up by the general noise that we produce [and Kazla's bits on display!] then trying to get it to sound perfect has been no mean feat!). Rob is doing really well getting the mixing right, we're getting an awesome sound due to the fact that ProTools HD is totally awesome/Rob knows his Desk stuff/We have 7 Mics for everything (7 for the drum set-up, 7 for the guitars etc) so we're not missing anything out sound-wise! Next week Barney will be recording his bits.....when I say his bits I mean his Bass guitar parts in the songs rather than his actual bits.....although I'm thinking perhaps that might be a fun competition......Okay that's sorted, we will run a competition and give some free stuff away to whoever guesses the following:

"We will record the sound of Barney's bits in one of the songs, for the first person who guesses which song and exactly where the sound of Barney's genitals (which, contrary to popular belief and in opposition to any rhymes which I sing, are not covered in barnacles) occurs they will win a prize that is unsurpassed in it's pricelessness!"

Anyway I must dash-a-rooney as I technically really should be working.......ah well

Blogging in the Sunshine and GIG WITH SENSER!!

Well as it's such a beautiful day I thought "why not blog in the sunshine? Why stay inside like a strange hermit who is only brought out to play amazing drum solos and then put back in his cave" So I have been allowed outside....within the confines of the garden - don't worry, 6ft security fences, rotating armed patrols and snipers towers means I won't be a danger to society - I have to stop watching Alias!.

Anyway I have managed to connect 3 x 5metre extension leads together and then the laptop charger, connected to the laptop, to enable me to blog in the comfiness that is my new set of garden furniture in the blazing sunshine. It's true that only a true Brit could say "wow, let's strip down to bare essential clothing (only by public demand of course!) and sit in the gorgeous 18 degrees weather" when other climates perceive these kind of temperatures as close to Arctic conditions!

Wow, I don't half prattle on!

Well I've just had possibly the most excited phone call EVER from Monsieur Langston who was informing me that "by the way was I busy on June 13th because if I was then can I kindly cancel it and wee myself with pleasure as we have just been asked to support SENSER (www.senser.co.uk - an amazing signed band who hit #4 in the UK album charts in 1995 and who were quite the sensation around the same time RATM were hitting the US!) at the TALKING HEADS! This is all the information I have been given however there's no way we are going to turn down this kind of opportunity - I've been re-listening to the old Senser albums (and the new one they have out now) so I'm well prepared for when we finally support them. I'm super-duper-wooper-a-little-bit-pooper excited although it's going to be a mass push when it gets close to it as TFT are taking a breather whilst Tom's goes and gets himself shackled to his lovely missus!

Anyway we'll let you know more details closer to the time but needless to say the rest of the band are uber exciting and we really hope you'll be able to come see us at, what promises to be, the gig of a lifetime.

Other things that are going on at the moment - we are recording some tracks still with Rob from the Solent Uni (thanks very much Rob!), almost all the drum tracks are laid down and next week we'll be concentrating to sort Tom's guitar bits out (not the usual way to record stuff but as he's away from next weekend onwards due to the wedding/honeymoon/sexscapades then we'll need to get our little pert bottoms in gear to sort it out before he heads off.

Anyway, the sun's going in, I've ignored Sarah for a good 30 minutes so will be paying the price soon.

SNOW And a Rocking Evening with the Oberon Project

Well This is Tom.

A very good morning.

I got woken this morning by a phone call telling me it was snowing, and they were not wrong!! Its snow.

Why do we regress to being 3 again? I now have cold hands but who cares, it was so worth it.

Well the suprise of snow aside, last night at the Havana bar was great!

Thanks to the Oberon Project for having us along and thanks to Penny for having her birthday around us. She had decorated the room with cool banners and projections of images, I felt like Pink Flyod.

We had so many cool people after telling us they liked us which is always the biggest compiment.

This beats real work for a living.

Lily was there taking some photos and loving Karens shoes, we have made a deal to get Lily the shoes in return for donughts. I think its a fair deal, Karen may have words though.......

When we have looked through them all we will post you all the photos up.

Tonight we are hoping to play the Crown and Cushion in Haslemere and it may very well depend if we can get there in the snow but we hope to see you there.

Portsmouth Rocks

Well Folks,

Who’d have thought it’s been six months since Chris and me were introduced into Thinking For Tuesday, doesn’t time fly. I guess all the gigging and rehearsing and recording that we have going on just makes time fly...

But enough with the Sentimental dithering, there is more fun to be had it is a busy weekend for us, we are only halfway through it, but The Havana Bar rocks!

It was great to see so many faces some new, some not so new faces, lots of thanks to everyone who helped, we had a great time, and so did those of you who were there.

So on to tonight, if you need more! come on over to the Crown and Cushion at Haselmere Surrey (not Buckinghamshire!) we would love to see you there...

I’m off to go walking in the 3 inches of snow that fell here last night, Snow, in april! what is the world coming to.

The Railway

Hello and good morning.

Last night was a great night and we got to play at a great venue with 2 other great bands.

Well the first band was actually one guy who got let down by the other half of the band, but a great set from "hello country". The set was really good but finished of with a crowd pleasing version of Umbrella...ella..hey, hey.... It was better than the original and had the crowd singing along as well.

Next up were "Brassneck" and they were great fun, a lovely bunch of guys and gal and some catchy tunes.

We were last on the bill and I had a great time. I thought we
played a really good set and enjoyed seeing Mr Booth let his hair down quite literally and become a headbanging machine.
Our new song "Unsung Hero" got a few nice comments from some of the crowd afterwards and its always nice to know people like the new ones as well.

A huge thanks to everyone that came along for the gig and made the effort for us we really appreciate it and hope you enjoyed the gig as much as we did.

Thanks to all the guys at the Railway for making it a great night.

2 Studios Sessions

Well, so far we have done 2 sessions with Rob and his student friends in the studio and we are really impressed so far.

It sounds good and we just hope that we can keep up the momentum as we progress through the recording.

As is it stands we have recorded 3 tracks but may well be able to do more later.

The tracks are Moving too Slow, Falling and Girl in the Red Dress 2

We had practice last night and was the first time we had seen Karen in a while as she had been ill. But she seemed perky again last night, and frankly how can you not be if you are with such fine young men,......

Recording Tonight!

Well....it's all very exciting, we're starting our recording today with the latest edition of the band line up and I don't know about anyone else but I'm so excited that I may have weed a little bit!

It's very kind of Mr Solent Uni Student (can't for the life of me remember his name but I definitely will by the end...I promise! Chris, his name is Rob....) to record our tracks for us for the grand price of a handful of air! We're very grateful to him (even though I can't remember his name! Its still Rob.). We're going to be recording in a semi-live environment (lay down the drums and bass (whilst playing guitars and singing - more about that in a sec) and then redo some solo parts etc and then finally laying on vocal tracks. The big problem (which means it's a good reason for doing it this way) is that Karen appears to potentially have tonsilitis - Bummer! So she is going to have to whisper the words to make sure we know where we are in the songs but hopefully will recover enough by the next slot we have to be able to do her wonderful voice justice!

We are going to try to record a few songs, in the short amount of time we have, and the list (as it stood last time we discussed it) is:

Ordinary Song
Falling
Girl in the Red Dress 2
Moving Too Slow

with the last one up for grabs. Either way, in a couple of weeks time (tonsilitised [yes I have just made that word up - pretty good eh?!] voice hopefully recovered) we should have some awesome new tracks with the final band line-up for you to be able listen to (and maybe even download for free - which is nice!).

Anyway I'm sure we'll keep you up to date and on the edge of your seat through the whole process, Excited TFT out! ---->>>>
