Thinking For Tuesday's Fan Box

Farewell to Karen, we will miss you!

It is after a fantastic five years of working as Thinking For Tuesday that we are saying a sad farewell to Karen Saunders, the sassy rock chick who has driven Thinking For Tuesday forward for quite some time.

Karen has worked so hard for the band, organising the rest of us and making contacts in many fields of the music industry. She has been a key player in what makes Thinking For Tuesday tick, and has always put her heart and soul into the band's live performances. We have played such a range of venues and gigs with Karen that were all enjoyable, but a few that stand out are supporting Sham 69 at the Railway Inn in Winchester, Senser and Them is Me at the Talking Heads in Southampton, The Coronas at the Boileroom in Guildford and City Stereo at the O2 in London. In the last few years we worked hard to get slots at festivals and have travelled all around the country playing to some lovely crowds.

Karen worked hard to create a great structure for the band and was infamous within Thinking for Tuesday for her lists and spreadsheets and organisation of folders!

Karen leaves Thinking for Tuesday on a high and we will keep in touch with her and let you know as some of her new projects develop. It is not our place to say what they are but we will be really pleased to see them come to fruition.

Thinking For Tuesday would like to thank Karen for all the work she put into the songs that we will try to keep playing, but would like to give her a special mention for two of the crowds favourites: Ordinary Song and Unsung Hero were songs Karen worked hard to write and we want to continue to do them justice.

These last 5 years together have been brilliant for all of us, which is why it is hard to say goodbye to one of the founding members of the band. We want to wish Karen all the best of luck for the future and all the success she deserves.

Good Luck,

Tom, Will, Barny and Chris.

Festival Season

So we've had a blast this summer playing great festivals and have some pretty awesome photos on the way. Most recently Watchet and Wilkestock which both rocked and we'd like to thank the brilliant crowds for their support and feedback at both. We hope to see some of you again at other gigs wearing your new t-shirts!

What's next...

Well three new songs and lots of ideas in the pipeline. Plus a support slot at The Cellars, Portsmouth in October with up and coming band, Munich. We've got tickets to sell so do give us a shout if you're up for it. Not forgetting the admin side of things and getting our tracks out and about in the industry - got to keep plugging away!

So we hope you've enjoyed your summer. Even though the sun goes down earlier, it's back to work and back to school, rest assured we're still working hard and bringing you all the up to date Thinking For Tuesday news!

Acoustically Speaking

Hey,

I noticed that we have been a little quiet of late what with Tom having just got back from France and Chris jetting around to all manor of locations. But, we have a couple of awesome festivals approaching at the end of August and into September. The Watchet Festival and Wilkestock Festival. We were very sad to hear the Winchester Rock Festival was cancelled as we were all really looking forward to that but hope they revive the idea in 2012.

So what have we been doing in the mean time? Well while Chris has been away the rest of us have been working on acoustic versions of our songs to prepare ourselves for future acoustic gigs. We love playing acoustically and have been experimenting with how we play our electric songs like Slide, Girl in the Red Dress Too and Stop The World. They are sounding good and with a little more practice we will have a great new acoustic set.

Chris is back soon, so in the next few weeks we can start to look at our melting pot of new songs that just need a final tweak. We are excited with all that we have coming up so although we may not be gigging much at the moment we promise we are working hard to make the autumn and winter gigs a mix of old and new.

Hope you are having a great summer!

Summer Plans

Just a quick blog to thank everyone who has supported us during our string of gigs over the past week or so. Despite the English summer weather living up to expectations of rain, performing at The Aylesbury Festival was brilliant and nice to see some old and new faces. We particularly appreciated the dude at the front rocking out to our songs at 11am on a Sunday morning - top stuff!

It's great hearing your feedback over Twitter and Facebook so please keep in touch and we will be sure to update you with our news and progress as and when.

Thanks to top photographer, Andy Squire, photos from our gig at the O2 Islington Academy are ready to view on Flickr and Facebook...

So until we hit some more festivals at the end of August / beginning of September we plan to be working on new tracks and new promotional material.

See you soon!

Something To Shout About!

We played the Islington O2 Academy on Monday and it rocked! Yes as you can imagine it sucked quite a lot returning to normal life yesterday after playing an awesome gig in London the night before. It was a great night of music with every band giving a brilliant professional performance to a top crowd of fans. We particularly wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone that made the effort to come see us, we really appreciated it and felt very honoured by the amount of people who put the effort in to support us. Our favourite photographer, Andy Squire, made a special trip to come take some pictures of us performing on the night, no doubt they are going to rock and we will be adding them to our sites as soon as we have them. Not forgetting the fantastic headliners, City Stereo, who have recently finished supporting Mcfly on tour - thank you for having us on the bill!

Now, back a bit further in the week to Saturday. The Beggars Fair in Romsey which we must admit was right up there with the O2 gig. What a awesome festival, brilliantly attended and yet again a top crowd of people listening to the live music. We were chuffed to bits with the reception and feedback we got from the gig so hope to see some of you at future events.

Onwards and upwards to this Sunday and our show at The Aylesbury Festival. We start the day at 11am so shake off those hangovers and come on down to blow the cobwebs away with a day full of great music. We look forward to seeing you there and chatting to you after so make sure you come say hello. www.aylesburyfestival.com

Until then - have a great week!

PS. Special thanks from Karen to the girl who said she liked her hair at The O2 Academy on Monday! :-)

Weekend at "Glastonbury"

Good morning!

What a lovely day it was on Saturday and Sunday. After the weeks showers it dried out nicely. Well it was the Glastonbury festival this weekend, and while we were not at the official Glastonbury we played a mini festival in Aldershot. It was a homage to Glastonbury for the Sergeant's Mess and what a great evening it was. There were two stages and we alternated playing. We opened the night at about 6:15 for 45 minutes then the other band played from 7 till about 7:45. We played our originals and the other band (http://www.21stcenturyriot.co.uk/) played covers. The guys from 21st Century Riot were top chaps and helped us with our sound check and played a great range of tracks to keep the crowd happy.

Our sets went down well, with some of the crowd telling us it was great to hear some original music as well. We really appreciated all the positive comments after both the sets and loved the festival atmosphere with people blowing whistles and drinking jelly shots!

The food we got provided with was amazing, a lovely spread of BBQ and side salads. So a huge thanks to the organisers for such an hospitable atmosphere and letting us share in such a great event.

A highlight for the whole band was the "bucking bronco" in the shape of a camel. Karen was first up and set the benchmark of about 42 seconds, which none of the lads could beat!

The evening was a great success and we hope to be able to play at future events they hold.

Hope you had a lovely weekend as well.

Last nights practice, and a cry for help!

Hello,

Sorry we have not posted much this year, in fact this might be the first of the year.

Well there is a good reason for that. We have been working on band admin, all the stuff you might not get time for when you do start gigging.

So last night we had a good practice. We blasted through some of the normal set material and we also worked on a new song.

Tom and Will had jammed an idea about a few backs while in the comfort of a BBQ and a pint of shandy and took the idea to Barny and Chris last week. A few tweaks here and there and it was shaping up nicely.

During the week a few lyrics were put down and Karen got to have a listen last night. It will be a fun song to play as we hope it has a bit of everything we do in there.

We need your help though. We have the chance to support City Stereo in London and we need your vote.
Please visit - "Thinking For Tuesday to support City Stereo - vote now!"

Remember you can find us and follow us on Twitter@TFT_Band and on Facebook.

Thanks.
